We have detailed information on airlines starting new routes and when the best time is to book cheap flights to Nashville.
What's new at Nashville International Airport this fall?
Over 17.4 million travelers visit Nashville annually, and autumn is one of the busiest and most lucrative travel windows. Nashville International Airport (BNA) often sees massive crowds, especially in October. The main factors that attract travelers to this city are the ideal weather, the orange and red foliage in the city and surrounding areas, the culinary scene, the live music ecosystem, and major autumn events and sports.
The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) is actively restructuring the Nashville International Airport (BNA). The redesign and rebuilding of its infrastructure is underway to scale capacity from 30 million travelers to 40 million passengers per year. Now, numerous airlines are also expanding operations at BNA to support Middle Tennessee’s unprecedented growth as both a major corporate relocation hub and a global leisure destination. To handle this increased traffic, add flexibility, and make travel more accessible, new route expansions are underway.
This expansion will pump over $11.6 million into the tourism economy, transforming BNA into a World-Class Gateway. Plus, when multiple airlines add routes to Nashville, it will trigger healthy competition and help keep fares affordable. Next, let's find out which airlines are expanding routes to Nashville and why.

Southwest Airlines Flights to Nashville
Southwest is rolling out new routes to the fastest-growing airport, the Nashville International Airport (BNA). The airline is BNA’s dominant carrier and has taken two new gates at the airport's Satellite Concourse to increase daily trips. Southwest will also start the only direct flight service from cities like El Paso and Manchester, another spot where it is strengthening its presence. With this, the airline is also adding routes to serve Nashville’s vacation travelers who flock in to explore Middle Tennessee’s festivals, honly-tonks and football games. Here are Southwest Airlines' new routes.
Manchester (MHT) to Nashville
Manchester Boston Regional Airport (MHT) to Nashville International Airport (BNA) is a new nonstop route that is a game changer for East Coast transit, launching on October 1, 2026. Southwest will operate its flights 5 days a week (Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday).
- This new route will bypass the 5-hour mandatory layover usually at Baltimore-Washington International or Chicago Midway. This new nonstop route will get passengers to their destinations in 2 hours and 45 minutes.
- This new route will also make it more relaxing for passengers who drive to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to catch a flight to Nashville. New Englanders in particular can easily park, pass security, and board their flight to Nashville without major city friction.
- BNA being Southwest’s primary operational hub, travelers from the Northeast also benefit as this route will help them catch a rapid connecting flight to the deeper American South or Southwest without booking completely separate airlines.
El Paso (ELP) to Nashville
A massive milestone for cross-country travel, Southwest's service from El Paso International Airport (ELP) to Nashville International Airport (BNA) will be the first-ever nonstop route. Planned to launch on October 1, 2026, Southwest will fly this route year-round, bridging the far western tip of Texas with Middle Tennessee. This route will:
- Slash travel time by half, as historically, if you were flying between El Paso and Nashville, you would have gone through a mandatory connection, forcing you to stay at hubs like Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Houston (HOU), or Denver (DEN). The time you would have taken between them would be around 6-9 hours and a multi-leg journey. This new nonstop route by Southwest will take just over 2 hours and 30 minutes.
- For travelers carrying musical equipment, golf clubs, or heavy luggage, this new expansion will offer them peace of mind, as the time would be cut by more than half from what it used to take, as the layovers are excluded, as well as the risk of missed connections, ground delays, and lost baggage.
- This route will also let passengers protect their money, as Southwest tickets include two free checked bags and zero change fees. This service by Southwest will not only save you money but also allow you to be stress-free from paying unwanted baggage fees.
Reno Tahoe (RNO) to Nashville
Southwest Airlines will be the first to provide year-round nonstop flight service between Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) and Nashville International Airport (BNA). This new route expansion is a massive win for cross-country travel, planned to be launched by October 1 this year, connecting the Sierra Nevada region directly to Middle Tennessee. This new route will:
- Previously, traveling between these two airports would have taken 6-8 hours, with a stressful layover in hubs like Denver (DEN), Phoenix (PHX), or Las Vegas (LAS). This new nonstop route by Southwest will whisk passengers across the country in just 3.5 hours.
- Reno-Tahoe is a major hub for outdoor recreation, and Nashville, being the heart of the music industry, passengers navigating this route with bulky ski bags, snowboards, or fragile acoustic guitars will find this route easier. Eliminating the middle layover time and transfers is what many would want, and this new route will be offering the same, while also eliminating the baggage headache with two free checked baggage allowances by Southwest.
More new nonstop routes to Nashville
Southwest isn't the only airline expanding at BNA this fall. JetBlue and Frontier are also launching new nonstop routes that cut travel time.
JetBlue New Flight Route to Nashville
On July 9, 2026, JetBlue launched a highly anticipated nonstop route connecting Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) to Nashville International Airport (BNA). Flights from Fort-Lauderdale to Nashville will be operating as part of JetBlue’s largest-ever network expansion out of South Florida. Details related to this FLL to BNA route are given below:
- The FLL to BNA flight route by JetBlue will reduce travel time to a clean 2 hours 15 minutes, eliminating layovers at hubs like Atlanta or Charlotte.
- Fort Lauderdale (FLL) is the primary gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean; this route will let Nashville travelers connect seamlessly to over 40 tropical destinations, including the Bahamas, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico, without switching flights.
- FLL to BNA will have three nonstop flights daily by JetBlue in both directions.
- While JetBlue is offering three nonstop daily flights, it also has a massive seat capacity, creating healthy competition with Southwest Airlines, which offers budget travelers average-priced tickets.
- The aircraft used on these routes will be the Airbus A320 and A220 fleet, offering the most legroom in coach and free high-speed Fly-Fi.
- Vacationers from the Miami and Fort Lauderdale areas are now able to rapidly travel to experience Nashville’s fall festival and music scene.
Frontier Airlines New Flight Route to Nashville
In 2026, Frontier Airlines launched two new routes that connect Nashville to Las Vegas and Phoenix. With these two new routes, Frontier has also decided to add a new route that will connect to Tampa (TPA), designed to capture the heavy peak-autumn holiday migration. The new Nashville (BNA) to Tampa (TPA) route is set to launch on October 9, 2026; the airline will operate 2 nonstop flights, allowing passengers to travel in just about 1 hour and 52 minutes.
- Tampa (TPA) to Nashville (BNA) Flights will eliminate grueling multi-leg journeys with layovers in hubs like Atlanta and Charlotte, cutting 3-4 hours of travel time to 1 hour and 52 minutes.
- While the Tampa (TPA) to Nashville (BNA) route already has direct flights by Southwest, Frontier's new route will offer a more affordable option.
- Vacationers planning a Nashville trip can now bypass expensive peak-season airfares from legacy carriers, keeping travel affordable during the higher-demand October Fall Break.
- This new expansion by Frontier will also impact group, event, or festival goers, significantly cutting transit costs and redirecting their budget to their vacation in Nashville.
When is the Cheapest Time to Fly to Nashville?
Rather than waiting for a perfect day, like Tuesday or a Sunday, to book cheap flights to Nashville, you should understand which months to avoid and the times to actually visit on a budget. As Nashville sees over 17.4 million travelers annually, there are specific times, like late fall (late October) or the winter end (January & February), when the prices of flights and overall city spending are lower. One tip I can give you is not to book flights during May, June, or July, as these are the highest-demand seasons with skyrocketing prices.
The Last Fall Fare Drop - From mid-September to early October, Nashville is packed with peak autumn crowds, corporate events, and football crowds, which directly impacts how airlines set fares. However, as crowds decrease from late October through the first three weeks of November, airline prices turn downward. This could be your next best time to book cheap flights to Nashville (BNA).
The Winter Fare Drop - After the holiday season, January and February are the cheapest months. In these months of the year, tourism in Nashville hits its baseline, which makes the airlines drop fare buckets to their lowest profit margins to fill empty planes.
Domestic Fare Drop - You can also use the Goldilocks Window, when flight prices drop drastically 2-3 months before departure, with the lowest prices clustering around 44 days out. Another window to book cheap Nashville flights is 3 weeks before takeoff.
New Routes Expansion Impacting Fare Drop - As multiple airlines such as Southwest, Frontier, and JetBlue launch new routes, a cluster effect can increase seat availability. The more seats are available, the more likely these airlines are to keep the base fare low. When competitors fly the same routes, airlines are algorithmically forced to drop their prices to match the new competition, creating temporary, highly profitable price drops on specific routes.
These new route expansions will not just impact travelers visiting Nashville, or vice versa. They will also affect the city's economy, its residents, and the tourism industry. The new routes will connect Nashville to various domestic and international destinations and help travelers save time and money.
